About Us

Hello. My name is Leona Custeau. The Victorian lampshades that you will see here are all hand sewn. They are designed by me personally and each have unique identities. Victorian Elegance is a small home-based enterprise that specializes in vintage styled as well other styles of Canadian made lampshades.

I began making Victorian lampshades several years ago and fell in love with the art of it. It was difficult to find the supplies that were needed locally, so I jumped in and started stocking the necessary goods and began teaching classes. Victorian Elegance now stocks a full line of trims, fringes, beads and vintage style embellishments. I soon attended craft fairs and wholesale shows. The response to the Victorian lamp shades has been overwhelming. The love for vintage items along with Victorian and Edwardian stylings seems to be everlasting.

Since the inception of Victorian Elegance (Canada) we have been advertised in local papers and on local television. The Victorian lampshades have been displayed and sold in antique stores, as well as retail outlets and art galleries. In February 2001, Victorian Elegance lampshades were published in the "Victorian Homes" magazine.

Victorian Elegance was recently mentioned in the "Old House Interiors" magazine (10th Anniversary Edition) as a Canadian designer in an editorial on Victorian Lampshades. Victorian Elegance lampshades have also recently been introduced to television on the HGTV Design Show "Love It Or Lose It" working with the Gothic designer in adding a Vintage touch to a beautifully designed room.

At Victorian Elegance we enjoy a wide and ever increasing range of clientele. We have shipped already designed and completed shades that are displayed on this website all over the World to a variety of customers that appreciate and enjoy the art of quality hand made accessories for their decor. We also work with designers in making vintage shades as well as customo shades for almost any application. If you can dream it - it's very possible that we can create it.

In designing these quaint shades a selection of new and vintage fabrics are used. We are all limited only to our imaginations. Victorian Elegance Victorian lampshades consist of quality decorator and vintage fabrics, silks, fine chiffon's and georgette's, along with an array of exquisite laces. Beaded fringe is also an extravagant highlight of these shades. The linings of the shades also vary. Satin and silk linings are used when we overlay with laces and so on.

These beautiful Victorian lampshades can also be trimmed in a variety of colors and styles. Put the shade styles together with the fabric and trims best suited to your decor and experience the ambiance that is created with this luxurious addition to any room.
